Professional Experience
Charles R. Nold formed Nold Intellectual Property Law in 2005.
On staff is an experienced patent attorney with a PhD in Neuroscience from The Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine and an experienced patent attorney with 30 years experience as a chemical composition patent examiner.
Charles was a senior patent attorney for The Unversity of California at Ernest Orlando Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory for five years managing Intellectual Property for the chemical and material sciences divisions. He patented and helped develop many licensed portfolios of U.S. and foreign patent applications for many successful chemical and nanotechnology companies. He drafted and prosecuted a large portfolio of patent applications before U.S. and foreign tribunals.

Prior to that, Charles worked for Baker & McKenzie in Palo Alto, CA preparing and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology arts, as well as performing opinion and licensing work.
For ten years Charles worked as a Patent Examiner for The United States Patent and Trademark Office in Washington, DC working with inventors and patent attorneys and examining literally thousands of complex chemistry patent applications in addition to drafting appeal briefs and patent interferences. As a Patent Examiner Charles examined literally thousands of patent applications in the complex chemistry arts and issued over 500 U.S. patents.

After graduate school Charles managed an analytical chemistry laboratory supporting glass vitrification pilot plant studies for Westinghouse Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC. Laboratory instrumentation included GC, ICA, FIA, HPLC, AA.
As a graduate student at the University of Colorado at Denver, Charles worked for Dr. Larry G. Anderson Dr. performing gas phase experimental kinetic and mechanistic studies on atmospheric chemistry reactions. He wrote the software (BASIC) to operate the flow injection analysis and photon counting detection system.
Charles is an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Air Force and was stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, AZ supporting F-15 training missions.
